How to Automate holiday posts

Success on social media means joining the conversation at important times -- including the holidays. But you don't have to jump on your computer in the middle of your New Year's Eve cheers in order to post for your small business.

Here are some great online tools you should consider taking advantage of:

Hootsuite

Hootsuite is consistently ranked as the top choice for online social media management tools. Users are able to track conversations, schedule post and analyze results across multiple channels. You can pay a monthly fee to manage an unlimited number of accounts.

Buffer

Buffer is similar to Hootsuite, but is better suited for someone looking for a more basic application. It simply allows you to schedule posts on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn. This allows you to stagger your posts throughout the day as well as analyze the post stats afterwards. There are free and paid options.

IFTTT

If This Then That is an automation site that can be programmed into responding to any situation. Have a great joke ready for the next snow storm? Plug it in to IFTTT and let the robot do the rest. IFTTT can be linked with Buffer or HootSuite.

Bitly

When you're constructing posts, it's important to use a site like Bitly to track the clicks on your links. In addition to shortening links (for sites like Twitter), Bitly can show how many people clicked on the link and from what part of the world. The best part - it's all free.

Carefully craft your holiday post in advance so you can spend your holidays enjoying eggnog! If you would rather not worry about your social media at all, feel free to reach out to me. I'd love to discuss your needs!
